There was a small line up of monkey testers after we wrangled everyone that had the misfortune to be walking the halls with nothing to do on Friday.
Girls and boys alike were playing the game and giving us their feedback on what they thought of the games graphics, gameplay and anything else they felt needed commenting on… Oh and yes, we have video evidence of this!
We realised quickly that our on-screen control tutorial wasn’t working at all as our players slid, tapped and fumbled their way through learning the controls… Frustrating for us was that our testers were that keen to get playing the game that they didn’t notice the tutorial or the tutorial wasn’t clear enough for most players to understand.

We also noticed that players had an assumption on how it was the power bar for striking the golf ball worked. This was interesting as people who admitted they didn’t play mobile games often were doing the same thing as people who were avid game players.
We’re not sure if we’ll have the time to change the way in which the power bar actually works, however we can definitely make the tutorial screen a lot more obvious before the player begins to play the game.
As for how fun the game was to play… some of our testers we’re adamant on playing through all 9 holes, though we’re not sure if this was through sheer determination or it was actually fun, while others played through until we had a gremlin crash the game… No, the Gremlins will not be there for our release!
We received a lot of written feedback from our testers on our game testing questionnaire, which we are still sifting through, so we’ll have a lot more to think about by the end of it.
Thanks again to everyone that tested our game on Friday, we look forward to releasing the game soon.
